National charity Greensleeves Care has acquired Rose Cottage care home in Broughton near Huntingdon.

The 38-bed, purpose-built facility becomes the charity’s 22nd care home and first service in Cambridgeshire.

Paul Newman, Chief Executive of Greensleeves Care commented: “We are delighted to welcome Rose Cottage to the Greensleeves Care family. We look forward to supporting the residents, relatives, staff and the local community to ensure Rose Cottage remains a thriving and happy place to live and work.”

Rose Cottage will adopt the Eden Alternative care philosophy Greensleeves has introduced at many of its homes.

The Eden philosophy seeks to improve the quality of life for residents and provides a framework to transform traditional approaches to care into the creation of communities where older people grow and thrive.

Jill, a relative of one of the residents said of Rose Cottage: “My mother has been in Rose Cottage now for two years ... I cannot praise it enough. The staff are friendly and caring the home is second to none. The food is amazing. We often have Sunday lunch with mum. My mum would not be with us today if it wasn't for Rose Cottage, we truly believe this.”
